I truly believe that journaling helps you slow down, explore your goals, and plan for the future.
What an extraordinary year 2020 has been for the world. Never in a million years did we think that a global pandemic might strike at the heart of our livelihoods and communities. 2020 will mark history and us forever, which is why I believe the time is right for us to reflect deeply and honestly on how we are really doing and make time to explore our future goals by journaling.
Journaling helps us not only keep a record of our thoughts, feelings, and struggles but also helps us begin to document our ideas in a place that is safe. We explore our goals for our very own ideal world and we map out a life that feels beautiful and loving. Each small step to personally write down or sketch our dreams is a commitment. By journaling we reflect on our past and invest in our future, each entry validating ourselves with kindness as we chart a course moving forward.
Despite everything the world has gone through over the last year, as our normal routines came to a screeching halt and we lost livelihoods and loved ones, life continues and we search to find a way forward. Living a life with intention requires a constant discovery of oneself and journaling will offer us the time we need to slow down, reflect, and plan for a new year.
Explore your goals
When looking back at my journaling experience over the last year, I am amazed at just how much I’ve managed to accomplish. My dreams of yesterday are now becoming my new adventures for tomorrow! I truly expected a complete lockdown, even for my goals and dreams. Though many goals didn’t happen for 2020, there was still a lot that did. Journaling kept me going, helped me stay creative, and look for new opportunities.
Make some time to cozy up with a comfy blanket, some honey ginger tea, and soft music. Switch your phone off and daydream. Winter is the season for sitting still to observe and listen. Slow down and open your mind and heart to everything you’d like to accomplish in the New Year. Connect with your inner soul and explore your most important goals.
Plan for the future
I can’t stress enough the importance of writing your dreams and goals down. If we don’t keep track of our challenges and how we are creating more joy in our lives, we often quickly dismiss how important they all are in making us happy. Documenting our goals and dreams helps us hack our subconscious to help us achieve them. Each time we force our brain to think about our goals and dreams, we slowly but surely make them happen. I believe so much is possible for the coming year! I encourage you to continue to plan for the future. Gather your dreams and ideas in your journal and make them happen.
